10 weeks to 10K - week 10

29.4.19

Important race day information

It’s officially the final countdown and the work is almost done!

This week is less about long distance runs and more about keeping active by doing the things you know and enjoy, such as walking, small runs, cycling, body balance or yoga.

Below is some important information about the race and race day:

Race Numbers and Timings

Each runner will receive a race pack which contains your tshirt and race number with a disposable timing chip attached to the back. This system is user friendly and all you have to do is remember your race number!

The disposable system allows runners to have more flexibility at the finish line, since the removal of the chip is not required. If you are using the single use chip, please ensure the following to receive an accurate time:

  • Race bib is clearly visible on the front of the torso
  • Race bib is unaltered and unmodified
  • Race bib is pinned in all four corners
  • Race bib is not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)

Swapping race numbers is prohibited and the race number allocated to you should only be used by yourself.

Parking

Parking is extremely limited on the morning of the race. Some car parking is available at the Queen’s Links Leisure Car Park on Links Road, but this area will be busy and the roads surrounding it will be closed prior to and during the race. Parking is also available in Aberdeen City Centre which is only a short walk from the start and finish lines.

Toilets

Toilets will be available on race day in the Race Village which is based between both the start and finish lines. There will also be toilets along the route near the 4K mark at Footdee.

Changing Facilities

Changing tents are available in the race village where you can also leave your belongings. Changing facilities are staffed throughout the whole event by BHGE 10K volunteers, but please note that all items are left at the runner’s own risk and the BHGE 10K Running Festival is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Headphones

We have been advised by Police Scotland and Aberdeen City Council to advise runners to not use headphones or earphone, as runners need to hear emergency communications.

Weather

Remember to check the weather on race day. Plan for it to be warmer than it is forecast to be but don’t over layer.

Let us all at Sport Aberdeen know how you got on by tagging us in your photos and posts using #BHGE10K #naeexcuses

Good luck and we’ll see you at that finish line!
