Get into the swing of it… Golf season is here
It’s time to look out your clubs and get ready to tee off because golf season is back! Challenge yourself to a round at one of Golf Aberdeen’s impressive courses located throughout the city.
Open to all abilities, each course enjoys its own distinct challenges against some of the finest backdrops of the north-east.

Hazlehead 9-Hole Golf Course
If you are new to golf or fancy stepping it up a level from the driving range, then the 9-hole course is ideal for you. It offers golfers wide fairways with very little rough but does have several large bunkers and tree-lined holes to test you.
The course is a par 35 (2,770 yards) which consists of one par 5, two par 3s and six par 4s.

MacKenzie Championship Golf Course
Described as an “unforgiving test that rewards the brave”, the par 70 (6,209 yards) course demands that players become immersed in the challenge.
Named after its designer Dr Alister MacKenzie, the creator of Augusta National and Cypress Point, the MacKenzie Course is the only public championship course in North East Scotland. Situated at Hazlehead, the MacKenzie Course was laid out in the 1920s.
Following a recent inspection, we are delighted that this course will open on Saturday 9 April. Tee times will be available to book as normal from Friday 1 April.
Preferred lies will be in place until the end of April, as at all our golf courses. A Local Rule will also be introduced on the course to treat all new turfed and seeded areas as G.U.R. (Ground Under Repair). Pins and rope will be used to guide players to protect some recovering high traffic areas.
Hazlehead Pines
Hazlehead Pines is described as a “fair test of golf”, basking in some great views of the city. Revamped in the early 1970s, the Pines offers a gentler challenge than its big sister the MacKenzie Championship Course.
The par 67 course is shorter – 5,735 yards, with most of its fairways tree-lined. There is a good variety of holes with six par 3s and one par 5. The fairways are generous and the large greens inviting but watch out for the numerous bunkers well placed around the course.
Balnagask Golf Course
Built at the mouth of Aberdeen Harbour, the views are simply breath-taking. Widely acknowledged as one of the best municipal 18-hole courses in Scotland, James Braid, Archie Simpson and the Hawtree family all had a hand in carving out this coastal golf experience.
The golfer will enjoy the naturally rolling coastal landscape offering hidden fairways, elevated tees, gorse walled ravines and a host of interesting features including the historic Girdleness Lighthouse and Torry Battery.
Kings Links Golf Course
Located on Aberdeen beach front, using the natural undulating terrain of the dunes, Kings Links offers an enjoyable challenge for golfers keen to experience authentic links golf.
The current Kings Links course was laid out in 1872 and is a classic links course, typical of Scotland’s east coast – think big dunes, very quick greens and lots of bunkers! Described as “golf in the raw”, watch out if the wind is blowing! At 6,289 yards and par 71, this course has three par 5s and four par 3s.
