Sport Aberdeen member Amy McLean's fitness journey

Q. When did you first become a member at Sport Aberdeen?

I first joined Sport Aberdeen in 2018.

Q. What inspired you to join?

I’ve been uncomfortable with my body and mindset of fitness since having a child, so finding a gym that I always feel comfortable working out in is amazing!

Q. Which venue do you usually work out at?

I mostly work out at Get active @ Sheddocksley.

Q. Tell us a bit about your fitness journey – when did you start?

My fitness journey is all about getting into shape whilst having fun. I control my eating habits and workout routines with ease now. I started my fitness journey in July 2022 and I’m already seeing the results. I mix up my workouts with a combination of Sport Aberdeen fitness classes and my own individual workouts in the gym.

Q. How regularly do you train?

I train at least three to four times a week, but quite often more than that.

Q. What changes have you noticed? How do you feel?

The biggest change I have felt so far is not only in my strength but in my motivation. The feeling I get walking into the gym is unexplainable, it makes me feel so much better about myself after a high intensity workout.

Q. What would be your advice for someone else looking to start their fitness journey?

Don’t rush it – I feel that if you’re new to the gym, definitely speak to one of the staff members at Sport Aberdeen about the ‘Learn to Lift’ workshops.

You can also chat to them about what your fitness goals are and what you want to work on, they’ll help you use the equipment properly and safely. I’d also advise starting a food plan.

Q. What is your ultimate fitness goal?

To be a lot more toned and body confident and feel the best I’ve ever felt! I think it’s very important to love your own body and I think it’s important to make fitness a lifestyle habit and not a short-term goal.

Q. Anything else to add?

Sport Aberdeen has given me the best confidence, I recommend Sport Aberdeen to everyone!
