Mental health first aid training for Sport Aberdeen employees
Registered charity, Sport Aberdeen will train more than 40 of its staff to provide mental health first aid to their colleagues and customers.
The two day NHS accredited Scotland’s Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA) training course will help employees identify people who may require assistance and guide them towards support services.
Employees will learn about mental health in the workplace through a range of activities, films and discussions and will receive a certificate on completion of the course.
Nickie Scorgie, Head of Human Resources and Organisational Development at Sport Aberdeen said:
“Sport Aberdeen is 100 percent committed to providing the appropriate support for those living with mental health issues. The introduction of mental health first aiders will enhance what we can deliver both for our employees and for our customers.
“We know the importance of engaging with and identifying the signs of someone in need of support and how critical this can be to receiving treatment and ultimately saving lives.”
Sport Aberdeen has two training courses scheduled, the first on 23-24 May and a second on 27-28 June.
