In light of the continuous bad weather and its devastating consequences, Sport Aberdeen would like to offer readers of the Evening Express the opportunity to help those effected by Storm Frank.

In an effort to help local residents affected by the flooding, Sport Aberdeen will donate all revenue associated with an Evening Express flood donation ticket this Saturday and Sunday.

Simply purchase your copy of the Evening Express on Friday 8th January to find your unique Sport Aberdeen donation ticket. When using this ticket either on the 9th or 10th at any Sport Aberdeen venue, the Trust has pledged to match the value of the customers purchase with the resulting revenue being sent to those in need.

Alistair Robertson, managing director of Sport Aberdeen, said: “On behalf of the board of directors, and all of us at Sport Aberdeen, I would like to express our sympathy and concern for those affected by the severe flooding that Storm Frank has caused throughout the region.
“It has been very upsetting to see the effect of these floods on our local communities and there was a strong desire from all of us at Sport Aberdeen to do something to help the victims. Sport Aberdeen want to join those who have rallied round to support the relief effort. As a charity we were unable to donate directly, but we can provide the facility for our customers to respond and donate through our venues. The more active the city is this weekend, the more of a difference we can make.”

The funds will be allocated between local fundraising efforts once the total raised has been calculated. The money raised is designed to help provide essential household items, such as carpets, washing machines, mattresses, and assisting in the costs of temporary accommodation, as well as assisting local businesses to reopen and survive.
